Unadulterated Fun at Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife

by The Lord and Lady

Feel like a rockstar at the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, from the moment you get welcomed at the resort.  The Hotel is just a 25-minute drive away from Tenerife South Airport, located in Playa Paraíso past the popular area of Playa de Americas. As we pulled up in our VIP rockstar limousine we were greeted by Sales and Marketing Manager Bruno Bedda and Omar Sierra who were both incredibly pleasant asking about our journey to the resort and how they could assist in any way.

This was the beginning of our experience away from the unadulterated mosh pit of the street outside onto the main stage of the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife. It was a breath of fresh air to see the doormen at the entrance which had a different vibe to any other hotel we had been to, the doormen looked like stylish hipsters with their braces and rolled-up shirt sleeves that revealed colourful tattoos along their tanned arms.

We knew we were going to be in for a treat in the sunshine for our trip to the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife where every guest is treated like a celebrity and every staff member is encouraged to be an individual, no rules have to be followed you only have to love all, serve all and take time to be kind.

The hotel’s rooms and suites are spread over two tall towers: the Nirvana and Oasis towers – as you can probably guess these are named after two great rock bands. We checked in via Rock Royalty on the 13th floor of the Nirvana Tower with Arantax, who made the process smooth and easy and we were most welcome with a glass of champagne.

She was very knowledgeable about the Hotel and helped put on our Rock Royalty wristbands made of fabric that reminded us of VIP access at a rock concert! These bands are a huge part of your trip allowing access to all areas – from your room to the restaurants, to the pool to the most important being Rock Royalty: The 15th Floor.

An unadulterated experience

After Arantax ‘s wonderful efficient welcome, we were escorted to our suite by our excited and enthusiastic butler Victor, taking the lift up one floor. The stupendous Victor explained about the room and amenities, whilst showing us the amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, he was also on hand throughout our stay to get anything we wanted, he was a true gem.

Our bags had seamlessly been delivered to the suite without lifting a finger and ready for us to unpack.  The Rock Royalty suite we had was spacious, gleaming, bright and perfect for your Instagram posts! There was a size bed with an additional sofa area to lounge and relax, a huge interactive TV, a desk area for writing your next Rockstar masterpiece and a bathroom area which blew our minds! Double sinks, large illuminated mirrors, rain shower, Whirlpool bath and a great supply of toiletries, comfortable bathrobes and slippers.

The linen had cool touches of embroidered guitars and the bed duvet had woven guitars to add that extra stunning feeling to the luxury of the suite with the touches of purple, black, greys and white. Each room has a Bose speaker with the great idea called “Sound of your stay” which allows you to make your playlist as you wander around the resort via the app, which you can download to like each tune in every area playing and create your vibe for your vacation.

Sliding open the huge glass doors in the suite you step onto the balcony to the magnificent views of South Tenerife. More comfort is included on the balcony with a choice of areas to relax and enjoy the view.  During our stay we slept well like a luscious lullaby, the bed was comfortable, enveloping, soft and perfect for dreaming in. Each night back in the room was just as enjoyable as the treats and sites outside in the resort, the suite was our cocoon of quiet and the sunsets were a joy to behold from the grand balcony with a famous Hard Rock cocktail.

As you walk around the hotel you can smell a special aroma created for the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife which makes you feel young, fresh and ready to Rock ‘n Roll! Food is a headline act here; we dined in the Capolavoro, The Constant Grind, Montauk and The Beach Club.

Each is different and offers a plethora of high-quality food choices, catering for the discerning foodie. We ate in the Capolavoro the first night, which is the Hard Rock Hotel’s Italian offering, we dined on Bruschetta, Beef Entrecote with Parmesan and Arugula and the obligatory Italian favourite Tiramisu.

Here we received amazing service from Ixto who made sure our glasses were never empty, done with pizzazz and style. We also went to Montauk, the Hard Rock’s steakhouse where we had Beef Carpaccio, Roasted Veal shank with mashed potatoes and a dessert of warm apple pie, here we were looked after by several staff including Nayra and Rebecca.

The Constant Grind is The Hard Rocks coffee and snack bar where we did have the odd snack or two! Silvana looked after us at The Constant Grind and made sure we were hydrated by providing a nice cool beverage in the heat. The Beach Club is the healthy light offering from Hard Rock Hotel where we salivated over Lebanese Tabbouleh salad, Seafood Paella and a chocolate lover’s idea of heaven in the Chocolate Gianduja!

The incredibly smiley and happy Male helped at The Beach Club and even took us to our cabana providing us with a much-needed glass of cooling champagne while topping up our suntan overlooking Playa el Pinque with the sounds of the crashing waves and light sounds of the DJ in the background. Each location has a huge array of beverages and we were ecstatic to try Tajinaste wine, a Tenerife wine with tropical flavours that’s tantalisingly moreish.

Away from the hotel’s six different food locations they have the unforgettable experience where the best of theatre and dining are combined in an immersive culinary journey; the world of Le Petit Chef, the world’s smallest chef! There is an additional booking fee during your stay but one that should not be missed.

We thoroughly enjoyed all the eateries we went to and even breakfast on the 15th floor at Rock Royalty lounge was sublime with stunning views excellent food choices and the wonderful service of Yoly who made sure the mornings started off right with the perfect cup of coffee. The 15th Floor also transforms throughout the day for the Rockstar VIPs with offerings including afternoon tea, drinks and nibbles. We met Taldia in the evening who made us an unforgettable Barraquito – the most famous coffee in Tenerife, unique to the Island with a taste that will always bring back memories of a sunny holiday.

If you are missing your favourite sports team’s results head down to the 3rd Half Sports bar, here you can grab a brew, a burger and a ball game! In the 3rd Half, you can also catch a jam session with different gigs on offer from Jazz, Blues and Swing.  Alternatively for a cocktail with a view head to the 16th floor where a DJ plays and when the sun starts to set the Hotel becomes a concert-like experience in itself with a light display and illumination of the Nirvana and Oasis Towers.

The Oasis tower sparkles like a diamond with stars shining up and down and the Nirvana tower comes alive with pulsating lights to the rhythm of the DJ spinning tunes. No wonder the vibe is good and the food and drink don’t stop, as at the heart of the food and beverages operation is Diego who makes sure there are no glitches and the whole hotel is fronted by Christina the hotel manager who keeps a check on this 5-star hotel and deserves a rockstar salute.

As you expect with a Hard Rock property there is an array of memorabilia which adorns the walls and every crevice of the buildings! We saw some amazing things like Elton John’s outlandish Bob Mackie-designed feathered outfit which is the first thing you are greeted by in the hotel’s lobby, full of sparkle and over the top it is a sight to see.

We also got to gaze at Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour bathrobe, Shakira’s tank top, Britney Spears’s Dolce & Gabbana dress, Elvis Presley’s tracksuit, Beyonce’s bikini top and much more! Plus, you can also dress like a rockstar with the Rock Store on the ground floor, here you can buy cool merchandise from Hard Rock offering T-shirts, collectable limited-edition pins and beachwear in case you have forgotten your pool area essentials.

There are three pools, so if you are feeling chilled you can lounge in the cabanas or by the pool on a sun lounger. If you are feeling more adventurous Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife will let you indulge in your inner rockstar with guitar lessons or DJ mixing classes. The Rock Spa gives you the chance to unwind with a full range of health and beauty programmes, The Lady had a taste of what’s on offer by trying the SYNCHRONICITY option which was a therapeutic ultimate spa experience.

There is also a gym, sports areas and plenty of activities available to keep you entertained as well as luscious green gardens with beautiful bird of paradise flowers. In the gardens make sure you look around while you wander and you can come across some iconic Hard Rock statues like one of cheering crowds and a rock ‘n’ roll salute, these make great photo opportunities.

You can also ask the concierge service about things to do in Tenerife, they arranged for us a trip to Puerto Colón to go whale watching which was a stunning sunshine-filled day seeing the whales, and turtles and feeling the sea breeze from a sailboat then back to the hotel to enjoy a long soak in the bath before hitting the stage again up on the 15th Floor for a pre-dinner drink.

Where the hotel is located, you can easily head into the other areas of Tenerife and additional Islands in the Canaries which can be seen on a day trip. All of the staff are on hand to help with your every desire and nothing was a problem to arrange and keep our Rockstar lifestyle alive in Tenerife.

The Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife brings the fun vibe of live music and entertainment to the Island of Tenerife by also hosting big pool parties holding up to 4,000 people and other music events. Helping you prepare for these occasions is a cool feature of a poolside machine which allows you to waterproof your phone for those essential pool party pictures.

Another fun element during the stay is the unique characters you get to meet around the hotel, these are actors who are dressed in colourful, surprising and startling outfits. These characters interact with the guests and provide a fun snap or two for your holiday album.

The Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife does have a party vibe as you would expect with music playing in most communal areas such as a pianist and a DJ by the main pool, you are never far away from a tune playing which means you can always top up your own playlist with the “Sound of your stay” using the interactive QR codes.

The Hard Rock Hotel is a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine island of Tenerife in the most luxurious way possible.  Treated like a legend the stay we experienced was one not to forget full of good times and one to replay over and over again.  The hotel is unique to Tenerife and with the rockstar vibe, the trip was refreshing and rejuvenating.  Just push play and head to the Hard Rock Hotel, Tenerife.

The Lord & Lady are avid world travellers and in typical English style his Lordship is never seen without his umbrella and Panama and her Ladyship without her beloved pearls and a well thumbed copy of Jane Eyre. Residing in the English countryside they enjoy visits from their children, looking after their animals and speeding around in their Land Rovers.
