Following a whirlwind few days at Cannes Lions, I found myself yearning for a change of pace. Craving a dose of la dolce vita and a chance to truly unwind, Italy beckoned.
This quick city break to Rome was all about tranquility and decompression, indulging in the city’s rich history, and, of course, some of the finest Italian food I’ve ever experienced.
My Roman sojourn began at the NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento, a haven of tranquillity nestled right next to the bustling Rome Termini station. Let’s be honest, major train stations around the world aren’t exactly renowned for their serenity. Think of Paris’ Gare du Nord or London’s King’s Cross St Pancras – functional, yes, but not exactly calming.
The NH Collection, however, provided a welcome respite. Stepping through the grand entrance was like entering a cool, air-conditioned palace, a world away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
A warm welcome and much-needed tranquility
The staff’s warm smiles instantly put me at ease. Their genuine hospitality made me feel immediately welcome, a feeling that only intensified when I discovered I’d been upgraded to a much larger room than I’d originally booked. Talk about a delightful surprise!
The extra space was a true treat, and the vast array of toiletries in the bathroom was another unexpected delight. Not only did they provide all the essentials but they also had a delightful little surprise waiting for me – a Hydrogel Face Mask with aloe vera and natural collagen, perfect for post-travel rejuvenation!
The beautiful full-length mirror became my personal fashion runway for outfit checks and the occasional selfie (because, let’s face it, a good hotel mirror is a travel essential!).
Exhausted from my whirlwind travels, a good night’s sleep was at the top of my priority list. Thankfully, the room’s heavyweight curtains plunged the space into darkness, ensuring a restful slumber. No more early morning wake-up calls from the city outside!
After a restful night’s sleep, I started my day with the hotel’s breakfast spread. It was a delightful affair, boasting a wide selection of fresh pastries, cured meats, cheeses, yoghurts, and seasonal fruits. Of course, they did offer a selection of hot options, including eggs cooked to order and steaming hot coffee.
The staff also deserve a shout-out for attentively keeping my mini-fridge stocked with bottled spring water, a lifesaver in the Roman summer heat.
Rooftop bliss & inviting communal spaces
For rooftop lovers like myself, the NH Collection’s rooftop haven was a godsend. It offered a relaxed and informal escape during the day, the perfect spot to unwind with a good book.
In the evenings, it transformed into a breezy oasis ideal for enjoying a refreshing drink after a day of exploring the city. And if you’re feeling peckish, there’s even a rooftop restaurant where you can dine under the stars.
The communal areas throughout the hotel were equally impressive. Artwork adorned the walls, creating a visually interesting and stylish space. The sheer size of the communal areas ensured a sense of spaciousness and comfort, ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing or catching up on work emails if necessary.
A Roman retreat
The NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento provided the perfect base for my Roman exploration. Its convenient location next to Termini station made getting around the city a breeze, while the hotel itself offered tranquility from the city’s vibrancy.
The upgraded room, with its thoughtful amenities and luxurious touches, was a delightful surprise, while the rooftop haven and stylish communal spaces added another layer of enjoyment to my stay.
If you’re seeking a sophisticated and comfortable haven for your Roman adventure, look no further than the NH Collection Roma Palazzo Cinquecento. It’s the ideal blend of location, comfort, and style, ensuring a wonderful Roman retreat.
