Tucked away on the outskirts of Ipswich, nestled down a leafy driveway lives the newly built spa at Kesgrave Hall, part of Milsoms family run hotels. I have been frequenting Kesgrave Hall for many years, as hotel and dinner guest, or just popping along to enjoy a drink or two on the hotels gorgeous outdoor terrace overlooking beautiful lawns. This elegant and classy 4 star boutique hotel has always been one of my favourites, and the brand new purpose built spa makes a very welcome addition. Built moments away from the main hotel, the new Spa Kesgrave Hall Milsoms has its own entrance and parking. Drivers and buggies are always at hand if you want a lift to and from the spa.
Upon arrival I was struck by the beautiful architectural spa design which has been inspired by the surrounding woodland. Peeping through the hedge lined entrance the Spa Kesgrave Hall Milsoms appeared as if a secret cabin hideaway. The wooden spa design is infused with large glass windows, letting in an abundance of natural light. As you step through into the reception (weather permitting) the welcome area is completely open and exposed to the gardens and outside facilities, offering a wonderful outside, in open plan experience. Large sofas and quirky copper rimmed chairs positioned alongside tea and coffee making facilities make a great first impression.
As you venture outside you are greeted by a very stylish outdoor fire, surrounded by ample cosy seating, ensuring the outdoor spa area is enjoyable all year round. Adjacent to the fire is a generously sized hot tub, which I have to say was just fabulous in the sunshine, but with water so warm and toasty, I can imagine it being equally as delightful on a crisp winters’ day. For relaxation and a bit of sunbathing the outdoor area also has a selection of cushioned wooden sunbeds on a south facing decking area that overlooks the spas beautiful green and tree lined garden. Inside the Spa Kesgrave Hall Milsoms you can also find a sauna to enjoy for further relaxation and pampering. I really enjoyed relaxing outside in the tranquil setting, feeling super cosy in the fluffy robe and flip flops provided on arrival.
After some well needed R&R, it was time for my full body Elemis massage, which took place in one of the spas five spacious double treatment rooms. The Spa Kesgrave Hall Milsoms offers such a tempting array of treatments and spa packages, I did have a tough time deciding which to choose. However, my achy neck and shoulders told me a full body massage was the way to go, and luckily this treatment did not disappoint. I melted away as my delightful therapist used warm aromatic oils to soothe away my aches and pains, also adding some much needed pressure to the knots that required a bit of tough love! My skin felt really soft and hydrated following my treatment. Other product houses used at the spa include OPI for nails, Delilah makeup and St Tropez tans.
After all my rest and relaxation at the spa, I had worked up a healthy appetite, luckily for me my half day spa package included a delicious lunch over in the main hotel restaurant. I would certainly describe the food as exceptional and alongside the main menu, Kesgrave Hall also offers a vegan menu. I tucked into crispy halloumi with smoked aubergine, tabbouleh salad and sesame to start, followed by potato soup with mascarpone, truffle and chives. If you are looking for a sumptuous spa experience in an intimate modern, yet natural setting, what are you waiting for, Kesgrave Hall Spa ticks all the boxes!
The spa is open Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am-6pm, with later opening on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 8pm.
