Spa at Four Seasons New York

by Lady Charlotte Lynham

Nestled deep below the hustle and bustle of 57th street, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel is a true urban retreat. With plush, nude walls and carpet, and candlelit rooms, you’ll feel miles away from the busy streets of New York City while unwinding in this luxurious hideaway.

I was lucky enough to enjoy the Fashion Week Foot Treatment during my trip to the Spa at Four Seasons, and although I wasn’t walking the runways, my tired paws were in desperate need of restoration after a long day of shopping in New York City. I arrived at The Four Seasons about 45 minutes ahead of time so I could take in all the grandeur and decadence of the hotel before heading in for my treatment. In my eyes, there’s nothing more glamorous than sipping on a glass of champagne at a five star hotel bar, so I knew I had to experience this just that prior to my treatment. I found a seat at the bar and promptly ordered myself a glass of Moet & Chandon rose. I sipped my pink bubbly while taking in the gorgeous surroundings of the main dining room. From breath taking chandeliers to oversized, magnificent windows, the dining room seems fit for a queen, and that’s exactly how I felt while I enjoyed my pre-massage indulgence.

After my champagne, I made my way down to the spa in the subterranean level of the hotel. Upon arrival, I was led to a private changing area and presented a plush robe and cozy slippers that I knew I’d have a hard time parting with after my services. The waiting area is awash with tiny tea light candles and dim lighting, setting the mood for a relaxing, serene experience. Just outside the waiting nook is a state of the art whirlpool, sauna, and steam facilities, including a eucalyptus steam room. It’s truly impossible to not feel completely detached from busy city life and revived and rejuvenated after spending just a few moments in the spa.

Once I entered the massage room, the massage therapist placed my slippers in a warmer so that they would be toasty after my treatment, and then immediately began working her magic. A blend of scrubs, essential oils, and lotions were applied to my legs and feet to help improve circulation and wake up my tired limbs. While the mask settled into my skin, the therapist massaged the rest of me for the next 45 minutes.  As a luxury junkie, I have had my share of massages, and I will say that this was hands-down the absolute best massage of my life.

After wrapping up the 60-minute treatment, I felt revitalized and refreshed. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and kind, and privacy was clearly their utmost concern. In fact, it felt as if I was the only person in the entire spa. The Spa at Four Seasons will definitely be my go-to luxe escape from the concrete jungle that is New York City!
