If thereβs one thing that screams luxury to me itβs a rooftop pool in Dubai with views of the Burj Khalifa and the city skyline. So when visiting the city earlier this summer this was at the top of my list of priorities, however, I got so much more than that at La Ville Hotel & Suites CITY WALK Dubai.
La Ville Hotel is situated in the CITY WALK area, a beautiful open-air area full of restaurants, shops and things to do, and is a short taxi ride from places like the Dubai Mall and Museum of the Future. Itβs also a great base in which to explore the Old Town of Dubai with its traditional souks, museums and abras but a short train ride away. But although its location is ideal itβs the kind of hotel that has enough going on inside that you wonβt feel the need to leave.
We were welcomed and checked in by the absolutely lovely Nurzat who was incredibly helpful to us throughout our stay. Within the iconic hotel, there are 156 modern rooms and apartments, all of which are beautifully decorated to reflect the area the hotel is situated in.Β Our suite was a 2 bedroom residence consisting of 1 king bedroom and a room with 2 double beds and even a sofa bed in the lounge making it ideal for a family of 5 or 2 couples.
The suite had such lovely bathrooms with marble detailing and separate bathtub and shower. I loved the artwork around the rooms of shoppers in CITY WALK and the cream furniture was so tasteful and clean. What was another great feature of the suite was the full fitted kitchen, complete with everything you need to create your own meals in the room should you wish. It was lovely to have separate rooms and then a lounge area to relax together in. It was a fabulously luxurious suite but it also felt homely and comfy and the cleaning and turn down service was just impeccable.
As lovely as the room was we had many reasons to leave, first, we went to explore CITY WALK, enjoying window shopping then sitting down in a lovely Italian restaurant to share a pizza and a coke and then headed to the rooftop of La Ville Hotel to lounge by the pool and enjoy cocktails at Lookup, the rooftop bar. Open from 10am to 1am you can visit just for drinks but I would highly recommend visiting during the day to experience the infinity pool with breathtaking views of the Dubai skyline. The pool is heated, has towels provided for guests and has a lifeguard on duty. Surrounded by cabanas and sun loungers it is incredibly tranquil during the day. We enjoyed many mojitos and margaritas whilst putting the world to rights in the last of the day’s sunlight each evening.
There are many choices for breakfast at La Ville Hotel including a varied selection of healthy, vegan and gluten-free choices as well as the classic continental buffet full of pastries, fruits and meats and cheeses. You can also have made-to-order dishes such as a full English, eggs Benedict and hot porridge. I personally found enough to enjoy at the buffet and if you fancy breakfast one weekend you can visit until 4pm and enjoy bottomless Mimosas.
But breakfast isnβt the only food to enjoy at La Ville Hotel, there are 3 restaurants on site and we chose to spend the evening at GrapeskinΒ because of their excellent wine selection and alfresco-style dining. The mood at this restaurant is laid back, with a focus on sharing plates and wine tastings to enjoy a leisurely evening under the stars in the courtyard space filled with trees and low lighting. Before choosing our first drink we were asked to open the menu and select which mood we were in: Feeling gorgeous, ready to party, stressed, feeling sexy, could feel better and hungry and thirsty. We selected feeling gorgeous because it felt lovely to be in the lush green space that was warm and fragrant, dressed in our finery and so were given a glass of De Bortoli Brut to accompany the mood.
Keen to experience one of the platters we opted for the Italian Beef Charcuterie with a choice of 5 cheeses, one of which was a Cheddar made in Lancashire. Iβd flown all the way to Dubai to eat a cheese made right on my doorstep! The thin slices of beef were meaty, soft and full of flavour and I particularly loved the additions of pickles, mustard, bread and grapes (of course) that went so well the selection of meats and cheeses.
Having loved the platter we decided to carry on in the same way and ordered a few sharing plates as opposed to a main each. There is plenty to choose from on the menu so it wasnβt hard at all to find something we both enjoyed. We demolished the Calamari, deep fried baby squid dipped in a spicy citrus sauce and doused in fresh lime juice and I loved the Tomato-Olive Bruschetta with onions, herbs and parmesan. The crunchiest bread with the juiciest, most flavoursome toppings are such a joy to eat when done well, as it was here.
With the mains, we decided to indulge in a bottle of one of our favourite wines, Minuty RosΓ©, which when served ice cold and in copious amounts is just divine and went beautifully with the food. We really enjoyed the Chicken Bao Buns with chilli paste, yuzu, sesame and Japanese mayo as every mouthful was just so full of flavour and fresh. Somehow I managed to fit dessert in too, but Iβm a chocolate lover and couldnβt resist a slice of chocolate tart, with chocolate sable, ganache and cremeux. Letβs just say Iβm glad I had room as this was delicious! We had a wonderful evening at Grapeskin and the service was absolutely exceptional.
My time at La Ville Hotel was absolutely faultless. From the moment I entered to stunning lobby, I felt welcome and in the most luxurious surroundings. The rooftop pool was just absolutely wonderful after long days of sightseeing and it was one of the best views I experienced during my stay. Everything from the facilities to the service was more than fitting of a 5* hotel and I would highly recommend a visit whilst in Dubai.
