A discussion with the wondrous Linda

Tell us a bit about the premise of MAMMA MIA! The Party?

Boy meets girl… They fall in love and it’s happy ever after!

Is there a strong link between the original MAMMA MIA! stage production/films and MAMMA MIA! The Party?

Not really. The main link is the ABBA songs

What do you think audiences might find surprising about MAMMA MIA! The Party?

The audiences are surprised by the food, the immersive element… the aerial moment.

Do you have opportunities to interact with the audience or improvise on the night?

The character Debbie has quite a few moments to interact with the audience during the show and she loves it!

Why do you think people should come along to see MAMMA MIA! The Party?

People should come see the show because it’s so different!

What has been your favourite role you have played generally and why?

My favourite role? I’ve many! But I’ll say playing Debbie in MM!TP is a strong favourite.

How did you get into acting, and was there a particular performance you saw that resonated with you?

I got into acting because I sang from an early age. I saw Ippy Tombie, an African-inspired drumming musical when I was 5-years-old.

What is the most rewarding or wondrous thing about your work?

The most rewarding thing about performing is when people consistently state how happy they are, including their getting emotional because the music brings back memories.

Who are your influences and inspirations?

Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Danny Glover, and Morgan Freeman.

Is there a role you would love to play in a show?

I prefer TV and film! I’m already playing my dream role.
