Impressive Autumnal Beauty Items

Inside and Out

by Christina Mitsi

As Summer turns into Autumn, it’s time to adjust our beauty routine. Whether it’s a different shade of lipstick to match the darker tones of your winter wardrobe or a change-up in your supplements for the change in your diet, I’ve put together a selection of my tried and tested products – which I find most impressive – to welcome the new season from inside and out.

Which beauty buys are most impressive?

We’ll start with inner beauty first of all, and a selection of the best supplements myself and Editor-in-Chief Lady Charlotte like to use. HUX hydration contains essential electrolytes and minerals that help your body absorb more water, reduce inflammation, improve muscle function, bolster your immune system and protect cells from damaging free radicals.

With the equivalent potassium of 3 bananas, you get all the nutrition you need without the added calories. These are now our Editor’s go-to packing items for travel trips, perfect for inflight or after a heavy night they’ll have you feeling right as rain in no time. We like to combine these with the Superfood Blends. A powerful, plant-based blend of organic superfoods, protein and vitamins to give you a daily edge. Containing essential daily nutrition in one tasty hit, within a couple of days I noticed an increase in energy levels, mental clarity as well as an improvement in my sleeping pattern. Well worth chugging one down each day!

Another fantastic supplement that works from within to give you healthy, glowing skin is from Welleco. Their Collagen Elixr is a favourite with thousands of women because of the visible results of a clear complexion through skin healing and regeneration, firmness and elasticity for rejuvenated-looking skin and strengthened skin structure and integrity.

When taken together daily, The Skin Elixir and The Collagen Elixir support healthy, glowing skin and a clear complexion, perfect for the harsh UK winter! Our Editor is a big fan of this brand and has noticed the Collagen Elixir has not only helped with her skin in these harsher months but also joint mobility.

However, if you need a much more instant result for lifted skin, dark circles or to simply boost circulation you need a tool that has been used by Ayurvedic Practitioners for over 5,000 years. The ancient Kansa Wand massage tool from Dimple Amani is a unique double-sided massage tool made out of copper and tin.

Capable of reaching eye corners, this relaxing massage process (which you can find a very helpful tutorial for on the website) helps to depuff the face lines and wrinkles increases blood circulations, reduces stress and tension, soothes sensitive and reactive skin, produces glowing skin and a better complexion, improves mood and most importantly it lifts and sculpts the face immediately.

I combined the massage with the Lymph Drain Face Oil which stimulates lymphatic drainage, detoxifies the skin, tackles bloating and brightens and nourishes the skin. Just 2-3 drops on the face, morning and night and massaged in with the Kansa Wand was a lovely start and end to my days and was a truly impressive sensation that felt wonderful afterwards. I’d recommend it for the slightly depressing Winter months.

Mylee gel polish

Let’s move on from the face and talk about nails because they are the first thing I change with the seasons. The pastel shades and neon pink are going to the back of the draw for next year and in their place, I have a selection of Autumnal shades from Mylee. With their MyGel polishes such as the Pulp Fiction Gel Polish you get flawless nails for up to three weeks, which is perfect if you are a lazy girl like me. Mylee’s latest innovation MyGel is expertly formulated to meet the needs of professionals and beauty enthusiasts alike. Achieve impressive gel nails for up to three weeks wear time without the price tag; no chipping, smudging, nicks or dents. Bring on the Halloween nails!

Now although nail colour is important this season, it’s not as important as lip colour, after all, your face is what people see first. I couldn’t decide which was my favourite for this article so I’ve chosen 3 different lip colour brands.

The first I chose for being the first and only lipstick certified to Soil Association and Fairtrade standards, a 100% natural and 86% organic lipstick from Odylique. The Organic Mineral Lipstick range, my favourite being Cherry Tart, is bursting with organic plant oils and butter including jojoba and Fairtrade shea to provide a moisturising vitamin boost to your lips as well as a beautiful, deep colour.

Next, I have to recommend the impressive Balmies from Axiology Lip-to-Lid Balmies are plastic-free, multi-use crayons for eyes, lips and cheeks. Packed with oils, butters, and antioxidants such as hemp, and plum oil to nourish and hydrate skin. 100% vegan, cruelty-free and palm oil-free. One of the best things about these mighty little things is their packaging is 100% zero waste, wrapped in recycled paper and stored in a recyclable carrying case. I picked 2 colours perfect for Autumn, Cinnamon and Chestnut.

Nudestix Lip and cheek balm

My third lip product comes from Nudestix who have created a range of colours perfect for the colder season with a lovely gloss finish. The Gel Colour Lip + Cheek Balm comes in an easy-to-use pen shape that glides onto lips effortlessly and precisely. With a long-lasting finish and smooth texture, these feel very luxurious on the lips and are great for popping in your handbag for a night out.  Our Editor Lady Charlotte is also a big fan of these and loves to switch it up on a night out by adding some gloss over the top for a real pop of colour.

Finally, if you change only one thing for going into Autumn, make it your perfume. The Perfume Shop has a vast collection of scents they recommend for the coming months and they sent me a couple to try out. One of them has become my new favourite and I’ve been drowning myself in it every day since and it’s Libre eau de parfum for her by Yves Saint Laurent. With orange blossom flowers from Morocco, twisted with the aromatic boldness of lavender from France. Lavender, traditionally used in male perfumery is given an ultra-feminine facet culminating in a couture-infused scent with a uniquely androgynous YSL attitude. It’s simply heavenly!

I also had the pleasure of wearing Autumn Vibes by Maison Margiella (obviously perfectly named for inclusion in this article!). With this scent you’d think you’re standing in a forest, with notes of cedar wood and moss, red berries and cardamom, the smell is reminiscent of colourful leaves crunching beneath your footsteps on an Autumnal walk. It smells like warm woods, fresh spices, and golden leaves.

So now we’ve got impressive skin, and kissable lips, our nails look lavish and we smell divine. All that’s left now is to light the fire, curl up under a blanket and countdown the days until Summer starts again!!!
