Hotel du Collectionneur Paris

by Lady Charlotte Lynham

After a pleasant first night in Paris, Kiron and I made our way across town towards the Arc de Triomphe to the Art Deco masterpiece that is The Hotel du Collectionneur.  The largest 5-star hotel in France, Hotel du Collectionneur, enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of Paris, it is only a short walk from the shopping mecca that is the Champs Elysées and the Art Galleries of the Rue du Faubourg St Honoré.

The hotel is an authentic tribute to the elegance of the 1930’s, the Art Deco style and the luxurious transatlantic liners. Stepping off the busy Parisian street you enter a world of tranquil elegance with breathtaking architecture of guilt gold and plush fabrics that echo back to a time of opulence and glamour. The Hotel offers 478 rooms and suites and 1700 meters of meeting and banqueting facilities, also within the hotel is a French brasserie, the Michelin starred Le Safran, the Purple Bar and the Mosaic Spa.Our checkin was smooth with very helpful and multilingual staff on the front desk, we left our luggage with the bellman to bring up, and we took the lifts to the upper floors where our Executive Double room awaited us. These spacious Double Executive rooms are located on the highest floors of the building and are ideal for guests on business as they offer unlimited access to their unique Executive lounge. Within the Executive Double rooms you will find a well-appointed bathroom with shower/bath combo including bathrobes and toiletries plus air-conditioning, an office area with desk, a flat screen TV and most importantly when travelling with a fellow champagne sister: a minibar.

Once our luggage had arrived we unpacked our outfits for dinner that night at Le Safran and headed out to investigate the exclusive lounge for which we had unlimited access with our room. The lounge offers a relaxation area with a large TV screen and decked terrace, where one can enjoy breakfast as well as snacks and refreshments throughout the day, including wine and spirits. A little early for champagne we had a much-needed coffee and some light bites including pain du chocolate and chouquettes while watching the world go by from the terrace.Revived we were ready for some shopping, and with this hotel so conveniently placed to the Champs Elysées we were in easy reach of all the flagship stores of the super brands as well as the boutiques of this iconic road. After some serious retail therapy we dragged ourselves back loaded with goodies and were welcome for the sanctuary of the Hotel du Collectionneur and our room.

Upon returning we were greeted by the lovely addition of a bottle of bubbly and chocolates in our room as a welcome from the hotel. There was no hanging around, this was cracked open and thoroughly enjoyed! After showers and pampering we dressed for dinner at the Michelin starred Le Safran, which is located on the ground floor of the hotel and accessible from the lobby and the street. Before we made our way down though we had a cheeky pre dinner drink in the Executive lounge, a glass of bubbles for Kiron and a G&T for me, the perfect pre dinner tipple.Dinner at Le Safran was fabulous, wonderful service, exceptional wine choices and great options as to food to satisfy both Kiron’s and my appetite. Stuffed to the brim and ready for bed Kiron and I took the elevator back up to our room and the land of nod.

The beds had been turned down and were ready for us, soft white cotton sheets and plump pillows meant it was not long before Kiron and I were sound asleep. Before we knew it morning had arrived, and with it the rain! Despite this we took breakfast in the conservatory of the restaurant, with rain beating down on the glass we were glad we were leaving Paris today for Versailles, but not before a hearty breakfast care of the Hotel du Collectionneur. Served buffet style there is an abundance of choice, from French pastries to fresh fruit, fresh made omelets to more English style breakfast offerings. Kiron and I must have made at least three trips back to the buffet eating breakfast in an almost course like fashion, accompanied of course with champagne! When in France and all that!?!

After breakfast we packed up our last few bits and rang for the bellman, with luggage safety transported to the lobby and checkout smooth and quick we were in a car before you knew it on our way to the rather royal surrounding of Versailles. Hotel du Collectionneur is a great all rounder hotel, with lots to offer the business or leisure traveller, whether you want quiet comfort or the social pastime of a French dinner this hotel has something to please any international guest. The rooms are spacious and have everything one would need, the bonus of the Executive lounge is worth the upgrade and the facilities of the hotel are clean, stylish and serviced by friendly and helpful staff. If you are looking for a well-located hotel in Paris that has such amenities then you cannot go wrong with choosing the Hotel du Collectionneur.
