I continue my journey for good quality, helpful, skincare and haircare so that you can sit back and relax and choose whatever suits your fancy to prep your spring beauty routine.
Products we recommend that are highly helpful
If you have read any of my reviews before you might have heard of Algenist, they have a wonderful range of products for whatever your skin needs. This time around I have tied their Genius Liquid Skin Resurfacing 2% BHA Toner. I must tell you this is such a great gentle toner but makes your skin feel refreshed and new. It instantly exfoliates at the same time as giving plump back to your skin.
It helps unclog pores as well as smooth break-out marks. If you have hormonal breakouts like me this is incredibly helpful, it just really does the trick to support. Just remember to apply sunscreen during the day to protect that newly resurfaced layer.
There’s something special about face masks, I like how you can apply them and kind of go about your evening whether it’s doing the dishes or drinking wine while binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy. I have received two options depending on what my skin needs.
Odile sent their OR Je Sublime – The Balancing Mask, this beautiful and helpful tube holds a luxurious mask that helps to detoxify and soothe your skin. With all the outside stresses our face goes through this mask will help protect us. Just add a generous amount to your face wait for up to 20 minutes and then simply rinse; easy peasy. Filled with all-natural ingredients of high quality, this product is suitable for anyone of any age.
When I saw the packaging holding my Purifying Cleansing Mask No.305 from C.O. Bigelow I felt like I had to check out their website. It feels like a vintage corner shop pharmacy where you can buy your remedies. And I wasn’t wrong, such a lovely story behind the brand! Opening this helpful tub of magic you’ll be faced with a grey thick cream, and it has such a fresh fragrance which is nice when it’s applied to your face. A little goes a long way here so don’t slap it all on, savour the product. It absorbs oil and digs down deep to cleanse your pores and tighten them to leave your skin looking brand new. Very helpful and refreshing all around.
Now being at the tender age of 40+ my skin has lost its plumpness slightly and lines are of course more prominent after having lived a little, so it’s important to give back to your skin and aid when you can. Kelsey Plumping Concentrate came in handy in doing just this. Non-sticky and easy to apply I tend to take the pipette and place a few drops on areas of my face I feel need extra support.
Something special about this lovely product is that it holds EZ Rubus ID which is an enzymatically activated Raspberry seed oil. This helps in getting the anti-ageing omega oils deeper into the skin which in turn optimises the hydration. Then there’s the Lupin seed oil that stimulates collagen synthesis to support skin density and resilience, I say yes, please! I will continue the journey to plumper skin and am very keen on seeing what it will do for my undereye area.
What to use on different skin types
Now, I have combination skin, I get very dry on my forehead but oily on my T-zone, and something I learned from all of my beautiful products is that your skin needs moisture. I used to believe for the longest time that I was getting breakouts from my creams when in fact I was getting breakouts from my skin being too dry. It’s all about balance.
During the colder months, I tend to get even dryer skin so when I received the Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration from Fab First Aid Beauty I was ready to put it everywhere, which you can by the way – very helpful! Hands, arms, legs, face you name it. It’s a lightweight cream packing a lot of punch so don’t be fooled. It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling smooth and lush. It supports diminishing redness and even eczema. But most of all it gives long-lasting hydration, and I can tell the difference.
Oh my hair journey, we’re there again! I have thin, super fine Scandinavian hair, we know that. But I wasn’t prepared for the Covid hair loss that I am still struggling with. It is frightening because I know I don’t have a lot of hair to lose and every time I either brush or wash my hair, it looks like clumps rather than strands falling out. I ate Biotin for a while but didn’t see much improvement. I don’t tend to use harsh products on my hair and very rarely use heated styling tools and if I do, I always use heat protection. When I received the IR Clinical System from Monat I was more than ready. I am still in the middle of my trial but am looking forward to this journey and what helpful results it can bring.
I have the entire set which starts with the Thickening Shampoo, which has a very fresh fragrance giving me that Spa feel, and lathers nicely. It’s all about massaging this gently into the scalp for a few minutes to get the product in there where they can support it. Rinse and repeat, we know the drill. The next step is the Thickening Conditioner, massage into both scalp and lengths of hair and allow to work for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. This is a helpful products that strengthens and lifts your hair. And most of all, it truly detangles my fragile hair.
The last product is by no means the least, and it’s the Hair Thinning Defence Scalp Serum. I have high hopes for this one. You take 1 to 3 full droppers of product and distribute it throughout your scalp by parting your hair-dripping serum and then gently massaging it in. Straight to the roots and the hair follicles which is where we want to support the most. These products contain CAPIXYL alongside a unique blend of ingredients that all help to strengthen and thicken hair but also prevent damage. Based on studies it prevents hair loss by 84% so I am hopeful and excited to see what this can do for me and my fine fragile hair.
So with all these suggestions I definitely have a nice bunch of products to help me look and feel my very best this spring and some new must-haves to add to my daily routine.
