A Heavenly Hair Transformation Journey at Haug London

by Lady Charlotte Lynham

If there’s one thing that’s true about hair, it’s that it can be a reflection of who we are. When it’s not right, it can feel like a piece of us is missing. I recently embarked on a journey to reclaim my hair and, ultimately, my confidence at the stunning Haug London in Fitzrovia. Nestled in a beautifully designed space by Erik Munro, Haug London is more than just a salon; it’s an experience of artistry, comfort, and luxury.

A Tale of Colour Gone Wrong

My hair transformation began with a rather unfortunate situation. After a previous salon had used henna without my consent, I was left with an unsightly faded copper that had developed into an unintentional two-tone disaster. As the weeks wore on, the colour faded further, leaving me feeling disheartened and disconnected from my true self. I longed for a change — from a coppery ginger to a highlighted brunette, with the hope of returning to blonde by summer.

Upon entering Haug London, I was immediately enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere. The salon radiates style, with beautiful chairs, leafy plants, and a Haus Bar that serves everything from loose teas to bubbles. It was the perfect environment to start my transformation.

Colour Consultation with Siobhan Haug

I was fortunate to have a colour consultation with the talented Siobhan Haug, winner of the British Colour Technician of the Year. Her passion for hair colour is palpable, and her expertise reassured me that I was in good hands. Siobhan conducted a strand test, revealing that we could indeed use bleach to lift the unwanted copper tones. This was a relief, as I had feared the henna would pose a significant challenge.

Siobhan’s approach to colour is both artistic and technical. We decided on a balayage technique, incorporating foils to add highlights that would beautifully frame my face. This method allowed for a seamless blend that would not only transition me away from the copper but also work towards my goal of a sun-kissed blonde for the summer.

After the highlights were applied, Siobhan used a semi-permanent toner to tone down the red, transforming my hair into a rich brunette that felt vibrant and fresh. Each step was executed with precision, and the care taken to maintain the health of my hair was evident.

The Cut with Philipp Haug

After the colour transformation, I met with Philipp Haug for a cut consultation. Philipp, a renowned hairdresser and the lead for the BAFTA TV awards, brings over 20 years of experience to the table. His understanding of how to create hair that looks effortlessly chic is unparalleled. We decided that cutting off a healthy three inches would not only refresh my look but also help blend the broken ends into my new style.

Philipp expertly crafted layers around my face to frame it beautifully, ensuring the cut complemented the new colour. As he worked, I felt like I was in the hands of a true artist who understood the balance of style and health. The combination of Siobhan’s vibrant colour and Philipp’s precision cut was a match made in hair heaven.

The Experience

One of the standout features of Haug London is their commitment to creating a truly enjoyable experience. Throughout the process, I was impressed by the team’s attention to detail and the way they communicated every step of the way. Siobhan and Philipp took the time to explain the techniques being used and how they would help achieve my desired look. It was refreshing to be a part of the process rather than just a passive recipient of a service.

The Final Look

As I admired the final result in the mirror, I was overwhelmed with joy. The vibrant brunette with beautifully placed highlights felt like a new beginning. The hair framed my face perfectly, and I finally felt like myself again.

The transformation wasn’t just about colour and cut; it was about reclaiming my identity and feeling confident once more.
