Haircare at Home Part Two: Condition

by Lorna Oakley

Aaaaand we are back! My hair stylist Jay and I have been missing each other lots and we’ve been sharing lots of tips between us throughout lockdown and right now it’s so tempting to get the scissors out. PLEASE resist the temptation to trim your split ends. If you want to look after your own hair condition at home there are other ways to do so until your local salons are back open for business. In the meantime, there are serums and masks to smooth split ends and restore your hair’s condition.

We recommend:

Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque

Pure Mulberry Silk Anti Ageing Pillowcase

You can apply a conditioning treatment by following these guidelines…

Step 1: Wash hair with shampoo x2 (I swear by Fudge Shampoo Clean Blonde)

Step 2: Apply a generous amount of the Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque and comb through, start combing through the ends and work your way up to prevent damage.

Step 3: Leave on for a minimum of 15 minutes. Keep in mind, the longer it’s on, the more effective it is, especially for hair that is compromised.

Step 4: Rinse with warm water.

Step 5: Towel dry hair (I recommend the Aquis Towel from Haircare Part One)

Steap 6 : Apply heat protection spray a few cm away from root.

Step 7: Apply a serum.

Step 8 : Style as you normally would.

I mentioned Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo; a cleansing and refreshing formula that targets unwanted brassy tones in colour-treated hair, because it is so good! I’ve got warm tones in my hair and the blondeness is in desperate need of topping up. Fortified with violet pigments and hydrating Guarana Extract, the purple shampoo effectively eliminates impurities and product build-up, whilst reviving radiance and neutralising yellow hues in blonde hair. Innovative FragranceFuse™ technology delivers a long-lasting scent to leave locks feeling fresh and healthy from root to tip.

Lastly, after you have gone to all this effort you do not want your bedroom antics to ruin your newly conditioned treases so I recommend the Pure Mulberry Silk Anti Ageing Pillowcase. I am so in love with my Holistic Silk pillowcase, no wonder it is recommended by dermatologists, hair stylists and plastic surgeons, this silk pillowcase from Holistic Silk should be one of your go-to weapons in your anti-ageing anti-breakage arsenal. Made from sumptuous Mulberry silk, these silky pillow slips prevent facial creasing and pull to protect the skin whilst you sleep. Also good for the hair, silk’s anti-frizz properties will prolong the life of straightening and blow outs thus reducing breakage and ruining your hairs condition. It is also available in 5 different colours so you can match your bedroom decor or make a statement with you pillow. It’s amazing!
