Conscientious Eating at Caos Ibiza

by Katarina Polonsky

Caos Ibiza is potentially the healthiest restaurant in Ibiza – yet you’d never necessarily think so! A far cry from the seemingly boring vegan food places that serve lentils and carrot sticks, this is a conscientious location beachfront restaurant in the heart of Santa Eulalia disguised as a pumping place to be on a weekend and weekday alike.

Caos

In fact, when we went in, we had no idea that this was going to be such a healthy meal, nor that the portions would be so huge! After what was a wonderful weekend afternoon while away having lots of delicious wine, healthy food, and people-watching on the Santa Eulalia promenade, we’d realised we’d discovered a new favourite haunt on this island we call home. Caos Ibiza (and no, there was no chaos in our stomachs after).

The Location

Caos Ibiza is in beautiful Santa Eulalia, which is Ibiza’s third largest resort. This is Ibiza’s most popular destination for families and those seeking a more relaxing stay, away from the super clubs and vibrant old town of Ibiza. There is an absolutely stunning palm-tree-lined promenade that runs along the long and broad sandy beach.

There are tons of lovely hotels and gastronomic experiences to be had along this walkway, one of them being the brilliant Caos Ibiza. Its location truly is unparalleled. You can sit, people watch, catch the sun, see the seaside, and feel like you’re on holiday all year round here.

Caos Table

The location is definitely open year-round. Santa Eulalia is one of those towns in Ibiza that is always vibrant, even in off off-season. There are a ton of cultural activities here (we actually were there during a parade of some sort), restaurants to explore, lots of boutique shops, and a wonderful close-knit community. It’s more slow and relaxing here, and almost feels healthier than in Ibiza town. No wonder, then, that Caos is based here.

A conscientious menu

With a seemingly straightforward menu filled with quality, Caos has some novel twists that can leave you feeling FOMO when it comes time to order. We both love pan con aioli and I have had a lifelong love affair with olives, so the Beetroot Vegan Aioli was extremely tempting, but we came in craving something a bit different.

My partner was eyeing up the coconut milk curry, which is not exactly an Iberian staple, though we did manage to find some at a speciality store that very same week. And I’ll never know how I managed to turn down the Prime Burratina as I am a fiend for burrata accompanied with cherry tomatoes, avocado, radish, and a sun-dried tomato dressing, it was essentially a condensed list of all my favourite things!

They also offer an extensive breakfast menu, which we were not able to taste as we came for a late lunch. A number of items sounded delicious though, for example, the classic Spanish tostada, made with toasted Ibiza-style sourdough bread, and options including toasted tahini with goat cheese and sliced cucumber, Iberian ham with melted manchego cheese and grated tomato, or sobrasada with Ibizan goat and sheep companatge cheese and dried figs. Breakfast lovers can also try inspired sandwiches (Nordic perhaps? Or Mediterranean?), sweet toasts (jam, peanut butter, or chocolate hazelnut?), or Caothic Bowls (chia, greek yoghurt, or acai sorbet).

Caos Ibiza’s commitment to wellness extends beyond the food. If you’re feeling fruity, there’s a variety of fresh-pressed juices and detoxifying smoothies, like the Coquito, featuring coconut water, orange, pineapple, and ginger, or the Chocogoloso smoothie, a tasty-sounding blend of banana, cacao, peanut butter, and milk.

Caos Ibiza

Fancy something a bit more naughty? Dive into an old-school cocktail or a Caos Special, such as the Pina Mezcal Margarita, Passionfruit Spritz, or Espresso Martini. I enjoyed the Dominio De Unx verdejo rueda, while my partner was very happy with his large glass of red wine sangria.

With our mouths now salivating, we began with the Hummus with pita bread and veggie sticks, some of the best hummus I’ve had in years! Beside that were the Cheesy Nachos with Guacamole, a generous portion of super crispy tortilla chips layered with a blend of three cheeses and a vibrant, homemade guacamole.

For his main, my partner had The King Chicken Salad, a symphony of flavours and textures, featuring succulent free-range chicken atop a bed of fresh lettuce, avocado, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, carrot, red onion, almonds, feta cheese, a zesty honey mustard vinaigrette.

Caos Ibiza Food

For myself, The Salmon Poke was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to fresh seafood. A delightful combination of smoked salmon, avocado, and a tangy ponzu sauce, I loved every bite and would surely eat it every day if I could! For dessert, we indulged in the Classic Carrot Cake, a moist and flavorful slice that satisfied our sweet cravings.

If on your next visit to Santa Eulalia, you find yourself walking the boardwalk, enjoying the sun, and stunning sea views, be sure to stop in at Caos Ibiza. This unassuming spot is a wonderful place to have a wonderful meal that will satisfy your health goals, hunger, and most importantly, your taste buds.
