A fast food vegan joint. Whatever next? The seed was planted in the states, and now London is the proud owner of two vegan eateries. Following the success of the original in LA, Eats By Chloe is the go to place for plant fans in central London, and proves that vegetarians can have a heart.

The brand has transported its kingdom of veggie love, and inventive, sustainable way of living to Covent Garden and Soho, and is set to transform the way that vegetarians eat forever, in a sit down or take away environment.

Determined on lowering the consumers’ carbon footprint, it uses seasonal vegetables, the mindfully sourced ingredients for their meals which are presented in eco-friendly packaging. Eats by Chloe is the place to be for interesting, and inventive vegan combos.

Showcasing all the failsafe staples including Mac n Cheese, burgers, sweet potato fries, there are also inventive monthly specials, which are dictated by what veggies are available stateside. But whatever is on the menu- expect the unexpected!

I visited on a freezing Tuesday evening, and the place was bustling- even though it is situated down a side street in Covent Garden; It’s a bit of a vegan secret, and as you soon as I entered it was welcoming, with the smiley server, large open fridge and choice of tables to chill out out. I was given a menu, while I waited for my guest, and was told that the specials were pretty good too!

Once we had decided, we had a little bit of a wait, but the kitchen staff was on a break, and we only realised after we were told that it was taking longer than it oughta! I thought that perhaps we had over ordered, and there was a problem getting it all done in time, but I had nothing to fear. All our dishes were served at once. Albeit in take away boxes not plates.

I tried the Gna gna burger, spicy cauliflower balls and sweet potato fries, whilst Chris ordered a much more healthy taco salad and nachos. Obviously I expected to share, as the portions were a generous size! We were able to help ourselves to dips and water, and both enjoyed a moreish homemade blackcurrant lemonade.

You can’t go wrong with a veggie burger in my eyes, and this vegan one, won me over. Nestled between a soft, organic bap, it had just the right amount of spice, the only downside was that it was a little messy to eat! Chris was super impressed with his salad which I sampled. Filled with superfoods- avocado, cucumber, kale and cherry tomatoes, it was well worth the £9.50 price tag. And we both got stuck into the unusual and particularly moreish cauliballs, which were the right side of spicy for a winter’s night!

Tempted by a pud, we ordered two cakes (to take away!) The banana slice was a divine chunk of moist cake coupled with dried fruit, whilst Chris’s chocolate cupcake was like eating velvet apparently.

Open daily (apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day), the chain serves weekend brunch, lunch and dinner, and expect hordes of Uber Eats drivers queuing up for their clients too.

Would I go back? Most definitely. Not sure I could be full time vegan, but nobody needs to know!
