As winter cloaked the landscape in a glistening veil of white, the Biohotel Stanglwirt transformed into a veritable sanctuary of warmth and relaxation. The crisp air outside was invigorating, yet it was the inviting atmosphere within that truly captivated all who entered. I found myself enveloped in a serene retreat, far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and found solace in the various offerings that Stanglwirt had to offer.

We were checked by Emil, who was very helpful. As our suite was not yet ready he showed us to the “Auf der Tenne” hotel bar for a welcome drink. Over 40 years ago this space was where the farm’s hay and grain store once stood, the beautiful antique pine building now welcomes guests to the beating heart of the Stanglwirt.
After a tour of the vast complex with Louise we made our way to our Junior Suite, a gem within this renowned hotel, that offered a blend of rustic charm and modern luxury that was truly captivating. Its inviting wooden beams and plush furnishings created a warm ambience that welcomed me into a world of tranquillity.
Each morning, I would awaken to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the large windows, illuminating the mountains outside. The suite’s spacious layout allowed for a cosy lounge area, complete with a crackling fireplace that provided a perfect spot to curl up with a book. The bathroom, equipped with a luxurious soaking tub, became my sanctuary where I could unwind after a day of exploring the winter wonderland outside.

After unpacking we headed to the renowned spa. The sauna area, a hallmark of the hotel, presented a variety of experiences that enriched our winter stay. Each sauna, crafted from local wood and infused with essential oils, provided a unique ambience. The herbal sauna, with its aromatic scents, gently enveloped us in a restorative embrace, allowing us to unwind and embrace the warmth. The Finnish sauna, renowned for its high temperatures, offered a detoxifying escape that soothed tired muscles after a day spent frolicking in the snow. Personal experiences were enriched by the serene views of the snow-capped mountains through the large windows, a picturesque backdrop that seemed almost otherworldly.
In addition to the sauna, the wellness hotel featured a breathtaking water world that became our favourite. The pools, both indoor and outdoor, created a stunning contrast against the winter landscape. Immersing oneself in the warm waters while snowflakes danced down from the sky was a magical experience that few could forget. Families splashed joyfully in the children’s area, while couples found quiet corners to relax and rejuvenate. The infinity pool, with its stunning vista of the surrounding mountains, was particularly sought after, as it offered an unparalleled setting to unwind while embracing the beauty of winter.
While staying at the Biohotel Stanglwirt I experienced a Stanglwirt’s “Kaiser” massage with Michaela. This bespoke treatment is specifically tailored to your needs. The massage began with an expert consultation, during which Michaela put together my individual treatment. The treatment has a broad spectrum of effects, such as energising, intense and activating, Michaela was very firm, which I liked, so I left feeling detoxified.
The wellness experience at Stanglwirt was not limited to relaxation alone. For those looking to maintain an active lifestyle even in the colder months, the hotel provides a myriad of sports activities. The fitness centre was equipped with state-of-the-art machines and offered classes that catered to all levels of fitness. Adam and I particularly loved the well-equipped gym, maybe one of the best I have ever seen in an Alpine hotel.
At Stanglwirt adventurous guests could partake in guided winter hikes, exploring the serene trails that wound through the snow-blanketed terrain or engage in thrilling skiing expeditions on nearby slopes of Skiwelt or Zitzbuhel. This blend of relaxation and activities ensured that all guests leave feeling revitalized and invigorated.
Dining at Biohotel Stanglwirt
After a day of working out in the gym and chilling at the spa, I found myself heading down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. The Hotel Restaurant at Stanglwirt was a culinary delight, where every meal felt like an exquisite experience thanks to our waitress Marie. The menu, rooted in local traditions, showcased seasonal ingredients that made each dish a celebration of Alpine flavours. I savoured the hearty Tyrolean specialities, each bite warming my soul as I sat surrounded by the rustic elegance of the dining room.
One evening stood out among the rest, a night spent at Gasthof, a cosy eatery that exuded an inviting atmosphere. The ambience was alive with laughter and the clinking of glasses, as friends and families gathered to share stories in what is still the barn for the milking cows. I chose the ravioli, while Adam had the carpaccio of beef, we followed this steak with a side of spaetzle and dauphinoise potatoes. All the dishes were beautifully cooked and served with love and flair by Phillipe and Peter. The Gasthof’s charm lay not just in its food but in the sense of community it fostered, making it a memorable evening that lingered long after the last bite was savoured.
Beneath a blanket of stars, I strolled back to my suite, the crisp winter air invigorating my senses. The experience at Stanglwirt was more than just a getaway; it was an embrace of nature, comfort, and community that left an indelible mark on my heart. Each moment, from the luxurious suite to the delightful dining and spa experiences, wove together a tapestry of memories that I would cherish for years to come.
