Undeniable Fun: Hill & Jones Sketch Show Goes Wrong

by Sara Darling

Hot guys, cross-dressing, dad jokes and plenty of puns, segued with a guest appearance from Mr Tom Cruise, all crammed into a Saturday afternoon! Sounds like your cup of tea? Mine too; it was undeniable fun.

My eyes were on stalks as I tried to keep up with the breakneck antics of comedy duo Hill & Jones during their ‘Sketch Show Goes Wrong’ at Brighton’s Rotunda theatre during their Fringe run.

Undeniable comedy talent

Remember Ant and Dec in their SMTV days parodying Friends in ‘Chums’? Ryan Hill and Ben Jones had that casual, boyish appeal to make grannies giggle and girls (like me) blush!

Fusing film projections with their minimal sets, and quite a few outfit changes, the fast-paced sketches were a lot slicker than the title suggested; and although the humour was slapstick, the pair’s chemistry kept them in sync, with Ben, self-proclaimed ‘loveable idiot’ trying the patience of straight man Ryan.

From politically correct bingo to toilet humour and wordplay, nothing was out of bounds and the pair’s infectious energy and genuine camaraderie were unmissable. I’d suggest you catch them while you can!
