Radley launched in 1998 after the founder Lowell Harder, an architect turned designer, made the move from her London market stall in Camden after the bags became very popular among shoppers. Lowell was approached by a large retail chain regarding them stocking her bags and the rest is history.
You can always spot a Radley bag by the little dog image, either on the bags, keyring or the pretty gift boxes items are delivered in. Lowell had the idea of adding a West Highland Terrier motif to the outside of the bags after being inspired on a walk near her London home where she saw a dog walker in a black coat and red hat and a black dog with a bright red collar. Lowell wanted to give her customers a brand with humour and eccentricity.
Radley value being creative, colourful, surprising and real. They are devoted to making beautiful things with a mix of style, attention to detail and desirability that makes you want to touch them and take them home.
Radley is celebrating its British heritage with the London Shopper, a large leather zip-top shoulder bag in stunning blush pink printed with the iconic London Eye, one of the city’s most famous locations. I had the pleasure of using one of these delightful bags over the weekend which was met with lovely comments about the stunning London Eye image on the front with additional sweet little raised bright red heart, riverboat and birds. This has made me see something new every time I look at the detail of the London Shopper, and this is something Radley are extremely clever with in their designs. The Signature Picture Bags are a prime example of this and the London Shopper has a similar eye grabbing style that is a definite hit.
The London Shopper is a spacious tote shape in soft leather with neatly embedded handles on each side, this bag will easily hold all of your items and the zip-top fastening will keep them safely stowed. On my use I found the bag held all the essential items such as face covering, a water bottle, umbrella and a book to read on my train journey. The main compartment is fully lined and has a useful zip pocket for your valuables, whilst the outside is completed with a detachable iconic Scottie dog key fob.
I love Radley because of the unique, cheerful colours and designs that they use for their bags. I recommend Radley because their bags are sturdy, quality leather, visually interesting and a joy to own. I look forward to using the London Shopper many times as the Summer days begin and I can start exploring the City once again.
