Samuel Groves began as a manufacturer of brass candlesticks in Birmingham, UK. Then in 1817 they began to manufacture kitchen equipment. From 1965 they expanded their products to cookware, bakeware and utensils. It is worth noting that in their history, Samuel Groves won a contract during the Second World War to produce aluminium trays! Having been a manufacturer for over 200 years, Samuel Groves still creates products with aluminium, copper, steels and plastics all traditionally made by hand.
Their collection of cookware includes cast iron, copper, carbon and Tri-Ply stainless steel. Samuel Groves produces two types of Tri-ply pans. The stainless steel collection and the non-stick collection.
I received the Classic 20cm Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Chefs Pan to test for my cooking club. You can see from the moment you hold the pan the workmanship put into the cookware. The weight of the Tri-ply and look of the classic stainless steel range showcase exuberant quality. Try-ply is a process of bonding aluminium between stainless steel, which allows the pan to conduct heat quickly and also retain heat, which each metal can not do on its own. The combination makes the pan durable and assures evenly cooked dishes. This range of cookware is superb for cooking and also presenting.
It is excellent for all types of stoves, including induction stovetops. The classic chef pan comes in a straight side or a round finish. The riveted handle gives extra strength, and the Samuel Groves embossed on the end of the handle provides the pan with a sophisticated finish. The stainless steel looks impressive, and this classic range is easy to clean.
The pan arrives in a hessian bag, with the environment in mind, these bags replace traditional packaging. The sack also makes for a great way to store vegetables you would use in your recipes. The ranges of cookware come with a lifetime guarantee, and along with the luxury price tag, you know you are making an excellent investment. Home chefs and professionals alike use these pans, Tom Kerridge even has a range of cookware with Samuel Groves.
Cookware is not the only product you can get from Samuel Groves. The company makes an exhaustive list of kitchenware from aprons to baking trays, glassware to utensils. Samuel Groves has also recently taken on the production of bins for NHS Nightingale in Birmingham, so lovely to see such a heritage business help the NHS through these difficult times.
Products from Samuel Groves can be ordered directly from their website.
